Melanie Philips poses the question: “Is it time for the Jews of Britain, Europe and America to leave?
This question is increasingly being asked by diaspora Jews reeling from the volcano of antisemitism that erupted with the Palestinian pogrom in southern Israel on October 7 and has continued to spread its lethal effluent over the world.”
The answer is far from easy. It is clear to those who hate Israel (including some Americanized Israelis), but for those who emigrated before, the answer is much harder. Another option, of course, is to “forget you are a Jew,” but maybe someone else will remember it for you.
When in the NYC subway, masked “justice fighters” were screaming, “Zionists, get out,” and no one self-identified to this juvenile scream; no one could predict what was coming next when the country at large seemed to close its eyes.
Melanie writes: “In America, the majority of Jews have actually signed up for the liberal ideas that are driving anti-Israel hysteria and Jew-hatred. In Britain, most Jews have been too frightened, too craven or too muddled to talk publicly about the threat from Muslim antisemitism and mass immigration.
Of course, diaspora Jews can reasonably point out that, at present, Israel is hardly a safe haven. And unfortunately, there may well be yet more horrors for that beleaguered little country to endure.”
And yes, with the public opinion war largely being hardly in support of Israel since the public forgot by now who started this war and that there are still hostages, terrorists are becoming more and more emboldened, supported by the tools they placed on campuses and elsewhere. The language of social justice is their new weapon.
So, yes, where are the diaspora Jews supposed to go? Back to Poland, even if you came from Egypt or another Middle Eastern country.
Another option is to continue sleepwalking and ignore it. The less you know, the better you sleep. Or do you?
